Moving. It “goes along with the territory” but is one area of missionary life that is met with great disdain. Though we get plenty of experience at it—we dislike it all the same. However, in this move, loading up the truck provided another great opportunity to express thanks to the Lord for all that He has accomplished. In June we arrived in the USA for furlough with a duffle bag in each hand. Twelve months later a 24’ moving truck is needed to move our possessions! Another example of American materialism at work? No, rather a wonderful provision at the hand of some caring Christian people that was directed by the Lord who knew we were going to need to make another move during our time in the States. So much of life is perspective isn’t it? We can complain of the hassles of moving again or we can rejoice that the Lord has gone before us and provided the needed furniture for a move HE had planned long before we ever considered it. We can be discouraged that we will not be in Papua New Guinea next year or rejoice that the Lord has seen fit to provide us the opportunity to help train future missionaries to reach other tribal people with the gospel while at the same time care for some needs within our family. We can get discouraged about having to say more “goodbyes” in relationships or rejoice that in this present opportunity the Lord has given us a gift of an extra 18 months in close proximity with Jordan while he continues his Bible training. Perspective. It’s not just a twist on positive thinking but rather a resignation to the fact that in all things the Lord is good and that in His care life is better than if we could design it ourselves. Let’s seek to see life from the Lord’s perspective this month and rejoice in it. Prayer Needs
