Training Trip in July

At New Tribes Bible Institute we train students for a career in missions. Two years instruction (part of a 4 year training program) in concentrated Bible truths pre pare missionaries with ample exposure to sound, foundational Bible understanding. Jeff teaches and coordinates the school's evangelism program. Jeff & Joy both function as deans and are heavily involved in the lives of the students. Because not every student that attends classes has chosen missions as a career path we also challenge students toward active missionary service. Specifically, we are challenging for tribal missions within the agency of New Tribes Mission. From our experience we endeavor to provide answers to the many varied questions students may have regarding missionary life and work.

Providing answers backed with experience is very helpful but the opportunity to actually see the work in action provides a context for more meaningful questions and answers. There are two couples at the school that desire to go to Papua New Guinea this summer for such a purpose. We'd like to lead them. We consider this another extension of our ministry as missionary trainers. We are making some plans for this to occur. Logistics in a trip like this can be quite involved and (above our normal support intake) the financial outlay is burdensome. We are asking the Lord to provide the funds necessary for the trip to occur. Jeff must go, to lead the group, the wives want Joy to go and we'd love to get Lindsay back for a visit to help conclude her years growing up in PNG. Will you pray with us regarding the many areas that need to fall into place to enable this training trip to actually happen?

Prayer Needs

  • For the finances and logistical planning of the Papua New Guinea training trip to fall into place.
  • Jeff is currently developing a new course for the evangelism/apologetics class here at the school.
  • Pray for organized thoughts as the outlining of the class unfolds.
  • Lindsay has been ill for many weeks but has recently shown some improvement. Pray she'll return to full strength.
  • Grant is thoroughly enjoying his classes here at the school. Pray the Word of God will continue to grow, direct and mature him.
  • Jordan is learning to function on his own in Pittsburgh. Pray he will find a job to meet his needs yet remain focused on what the Lord wants to teach him as he looks toward a career in missions.

FAQs

What does it actually cost to fly to Papua New Guinea?

Because of the great distance to travel and the in country flying necessary (because of the lack of roads on which to travel!), the costs are generally over $3,000.00 per individual!
