Prayer Letter Archive

March 26, 2003

We've been back from Australia now for eight days. The school term is under way and our lives are on the run again. Actually, I'm a bit slower these days. My shoulder is still painful and I've learned that my left hand can do a whole lot more than I thought it could! All is on schedule and I'm slightly over halfway in the period of immobility before I can start some physical therapy. Will be glad when that day begins.

I'm teaching a new Bible class this term to 47 10-12 graders. I've chosen the subject of boy-girl relationships. Several situations have come our way since we started to work here at the school that have communicated to us that this issue needs some attention among these kids. That number of 47 kids is made up primarily of missionary kids. The uniqueness of who they are and their lot in life has impressed us all the more to deal with this subject. Pray for both Joy and I as we provide some direction for these kids. I'll be doing the bulk of the teaching but we plan on several split sessions of only girls or guys to prompt some discussion in these areas. Today I taught on the sensual aspects of today's modern society. Something they need to be prepared for as very few of them have had any exposure to this from because of being here in Papua New Guinea most of their lives. Pray for us. It will be a challenge.

While down in Cairns, Australia, Joy was able to get some more physical therapy. It was helpful. Today she has started with another physical therapist. A young women from Northern Ireland who has come to Papua New Guinea to help missionaries for six months. Once again the Lord's provision for Joy in this area. What a blessing!

Word has come that my Dad (at least initially) has some high numbers that may indicate he has prostate cancer. He will be having another test next month to actually determine if this is true. Appreciate your prayers concerning this.

Trust you are sensing the nearness of the Lord in these days of uncertainty. Thank you so much for your interest and prayers in our lives and ministry.

Take care,

Jeff
